Class Structure and Size

Class sizes are between 5 and 10 students, all at the same learning level. Ten students per class is our maximum.

How are classes set up during the year?

Students who enroll for the entire school year will have 32 two-hour sessions per class or 64 total hours of classroom instruction. EFDM’s school calendar takes into account holidays as well as various specially noted days according to the ISD rules including breaks and testing periods.

Why EARLY registration?

Early registration assures your child’s place in a class and gives us the opportunity to accommodate any special needs particular students may have especially when it comes to language levels.
Early registration allows us to provide parents with a schedule of any special events that we can plan provided a required level of participation.
An application and a $50 deposit per each student can be all made online. Should you decide NOT to enroll your child or if FULL PAYMENT is not received before the first day of classes, the $50 deposit is forfeited.

How do I apply?

Applications are accepted for the full year on an annual basis.
Class fees are due upon enrollment either as a single payment (or three equal payments payable at the time of enrollment, then on December 1st, and March 1st) online or by check mailed to :

2012 E. Randol Mill Road,
Suite 201

Can I enroll my child during the school year?

We recommend that you register your child at the start of our school year. It may be possible (space and schedules permitting) to bring your child into a group during the school year and assist in their fit into the class.
Please contact our Head of Instruction in order to help determine at which level your child can be admitted.
Midterm admissions and costs will be determined on a prorated basis. A $50 per student registration fee will be charged for enrollments AFTER the start of the school term.

Can our family have a trial period ?

If you would like to have a trial period to see if our program is the right fit for your family, we offer a no cost program for a limited time. Contact the Head of Instruction for our EFDM class. You will still need to fill out an enrollment application for the trial period. After the trial period, if you decide to enroll for the rest of the year, click on the link below : Form

We only ask that you make a reservation PRIOR to any class visits for observation purposes. Your observation is limited to 20 minutes and you may ONLY OBSERVE.

We need your commitment to ensure regular attendance as well as serious study and participation efforts for the full school year.

What are the costs?

As a non-profit school, our goal is to provide high quality French lessons and instruction in an ´ after school ª environment at a fair and reasonable cost and achieving lasting results.

Discipline

All students are required and expected to follow teacher instructions (respect, politeness, discipline, cooperation) as well as EFDM rules and regulations. Our instructors will inform parents on a regular basis of the academic progress as well as potential discipline problems.

Reasons for suspension

EFDM reserves the right to temporarily or permanently suspend any student from classes and activities whose behavior in class risks harm to other students, themselves, or the proper functioning of the class.
In case of a permanent suspension, fees will be reimbursed on a prorated basis. Enrollment costs are nonrefundable.

Class Cancellations

Short term :
If an instructor becomes incapacitated and can no longer conduct a class, EFDM will make every reasonable effort possible to find a replacement teacher. If a class must be cancelled because of a “force majeure” (hurricane, storm, flooding, etc.), or illness, EFDM will provide for make up classes at an agreed-upon later date.

Cancellation of a Class :

EFDM plans its classes based on actual client demand. If there are not enough paid students to form a class or to add to an existing class, we will not offer it. All students who are fully paid will be fully reimbursed. This reimbursement will apply to cases where a teacher cannot teach at the stated times, the schedule is already full, or if the location changes and the student cannot attend due to a schedule conflict. In these cases, ALL FEES and CHARGES will be reimbursed.

Class Reimbursements

If a class is cancelled during the school year because of a drop in enrollment, fees will be reimbursed on a prorated basis.

1. Kick-off meeting at the start of the school year
2. Mid-year event — “Galette des Rois (King’s Feast)”
3. End-year graduation celebration
